Personality, Biography, and Role Play History

Personality

[ Independent ] - [ Strong-Willed ] - [ Loyal ] - [ Energetic + Enduring ] - [ Quiet ] - [ Compassionate ] [ Notable ]

  • Independent
"I don't need your help.... Don't worry, I can take care of myself."
Asalah is one of those horses that has never needed direction from another to help her survive. After years of relying on her brothers, their death forced her to learn how to survive on her own. Ever since that time frame in her life, Asalah has worked hard to make sure she doesn't need to rely on any single horse for her well being.
  • Strong Willed // Stubborn
    "Nothing's going to stop me."
Asalah is admittedly too stubborn/strong willed for her own good. She's the kind of horse to push herself to the limits if it means that she gets something done the way she wants to. She often has trouble changing her mind on subjects that she has already formulated full opinions of. She's also the kind of horse to keep to her own morals and because of that, she will happily stand up for what she thinks is right, even if it means getting kicked down into the dirt. Because of her upbringing, this mare is strong and hard to derail once her mind is set to something. Few can get past her guard, for she throws up defenses around anybody and everybody she doesn't know or trust and more often finds herself into unpredictable circumstances because of it. She isn't really all that bothered by it, although she has been told a multitude of times to keep close to the herd and not to get herself into any dangerous situations, more likely than not most believe her "stubbornness" will get her killed, but she won't ever listen.
  • Loyal
"I've got your back if you've got mine."
To horses that prove themselves to Asalah, there is no other horse they would want on their side. She wouldn't throw herself off a cliff if she was asked, -- or kill any horse just because she was told for that matter-- but she will do what is asked of her if the reason makes enough sense. She will protect those that she is loyal to faster than she will do anything else.
  • Energetic + Enduring
Asalah could spend hours doing any type of physical activity that is demanded of her without much complaint or issue. She's always ready to go further and longer than most and can at times be hard to find because of how far away from the herd she travels from at times. She loves to run more than anything and can be seen galloping off without reason, though most of the time she actually does have a reason.
  • Quiet // Loner
    "...Mmmph..."
It's not abnormal for this mare to shy away from others she doesn't know, though she is not shy by any means. Instead, she just prefers to keep to herself unless it is absolutely needed. Years of being within the Exiled Herd have taught her that sometimes it's better to not speak and to merely listen, which she does more often than not. Sometimes this quietness appears to be cold, but she really isn't a hardhearted equine. Aloof doesn't really fit with her either, since she's willing to join into conversations she is interested in being in.... that just doesn't happen all too often. More often that not she can be considered staunch and poise over that of disconcerting and aloof.

  • Compassionate
"Don't kill a young foal when they have yet to even see what life will bring them! Are you heartless?"
Due to her upbrining, and seeing two of her own siblings killed off, Asalah has developed an extremely compassionate and passionate side to her that sees beauty not only within her own herd, but within life itself. She hates seeing young equine killed and will not stand to just stay behind and watch. Though she is not known to be stubborn, she will not stand for outright savagery.
  • Notable // Feminist

"There is reason to believe these lands are no longer safe... I wish to leave, but the plans the exile herd has made..."
Don't speak too loud, don't demand too much, don't expect the herd to do as you will: these are things that Asalah has picked up and rather quickly and understands that no matter what, her words are not hard to listen to. She is notable in her speech, calm and collected, and understanding that not everything she says will turn out the way she wills it, but she can attempt other ways to deal with getting what she wants. Her voice is one that demands notice, mostly because she isn't heard that often. She is also a staunch feminist, feeling that being called brood is nothing more than demeaning and should stop. She would not fit in well with the bachelor herd.

Background Information -- Before The War

Birth & Childhood (Age 0-10)
Parents don't always like what they see in their children, and sometimes parents just don't wish to have children, but bare them anyway because of social norms and because they have no other choice but to live with their bad decisions...

Asalah's parents did exactly that and more often than not caused problems for their three children because of it. The first two, twin boys, were born approximately three years before little Asalah, and had practically been given up to the rest of the herd to take care of when Asalah had been born...

A thunderstorm had been raging when the little filly had been given birth too, a dangerous time, and a time that some may have thought meant the young filly was meant to be strong and would take the world by storm... Unfortunately, Asalah's parents did not believe that, and although she was given a name that declared she was of noble decent, her parents did not believe she was going to do anything special in her life, and so far, it appears that they were right.

Asalah's parents were far from simple when it came to their beliefs, which may have caused most of the problems the family had, since the twins were often seen as a curse and their daughter a foreboding reminder that they were marked by a storm... Whatever that really meant. Asalah would never understand what her parents meant by that whenever they said those words, since she never really bothered to ask them what they meant by anything they said. Their beliefs were always foreign concepts that the three foals never dared to speak about except for in hushed whispers at night when both parents were asleep in the middle of the night. The three siblings were close, for the twins always knew what to say to calm their sister and ensure that she was well taken care of and protected.

Her mother was a lightly colored Arabian horse, kind and loving to her daughter and sons when around others, but cold and distant when nobody else was around. Her father, a strong stallion of unknown origins, held the same coloration as her and at times had a temper to match his dark colored coat, though he often only showed this dispassionate and cold side to his children when the anger became too much. The brothers would often find themselves kicked hard in the side or bitten if they came to close to their father during these times, and because of it, Asalah knew better than to mess with the mean old equine that was her father.

Life was harsh, but it wasn't anything she couldn't handle... She learned about the unicorn gods, the story of the exiled herd, and learned about her heritage... things that both inspired her and influenced her greatly as she grew up. Her brothers taught her that compassion was needed in a world that could create such cold creatures as the parents she knew but did not love.

Despite her brothers being older than her, she often loved racing them. She was slower than they were, but when it came to how long she could run, she could go distances they could not, and would often find herself straying far ahead of the herd, which in turn would scare and worry her brothers. While they were alive though, she made sure she could always come back...

Teenager (Age 11-20)
Things were good for the filly as she reached her teenage years, she would fall in love with the storms that would scare so many others of her herd. The rain pouring down and the lightning flashing through the skies with the sound of thunder rumbling behind was enlivening and worth listening too. Her brothers would often pick on her because of it, but that wasn't bad. They at least were there for her and showed they loved her by doing just that.

One day, foolishly she and her brothers raced off after each other, playing their racing and endurance games as they always did. They raced through the woods of the southern isle, laughing and whinnying and having the best time they could, enjoying being alive and free. They jumped and "danced" and spent almost the entire day away from the herd... They raced on and on, until finally they came across a beach. They could see the landmass known as "The Crescent". The brothers wandered slowly into the waters, wondering if they could make it to the beach on the other side. The brothers declared they would explore the area, what harm could it do anyway?

If only the three teenagers had known better...

The brothers were now close to their 20th name day while Asalah was coming upon her 17th name day. They were strong, all three, but not strong enough to deal with the currents. Asalah had been the only one wise enough to stay near the natural land bridge that linked the island to the other, but the water was almost too high even there... she stopped barely ten feet away from the shores and called to her brothers, who were now swimming into the much deeper waters.

She watched in horror as the currents took hold of the two and carried them off... Never to be seen again. Asalah called and called and called until her voice was cracked and near the point of breaking, but they never returned. Scared and alone, the young foal raced back to the herd she had grown up around.

Many tried to pry words from the young filly, but she didn't wish to talk, her voice hurt and her entire body ached... and her heart was broken. The only two family members she cared about were gone...

By the time of her 20th name day, the energetic mare was beginning to become more and more quiet around others... mostly because her two brothers were now gone and she felt she had nothing more to say to anybody. They had only cared for her and her parents seemed to be even more distant before. She tried her hardest to come close to the two other horses, but her father kicked and her mother bit... she wasn't welcomed into their little circle it seemed... and so she left them be, claiming to herself that she was never their daughter... that she had been born of the storm, and that she came from the unicorn blood that ran in her veins.

It was only something to help her cope with the pain.

Young Adult(Age 21-25)
For the next four years she followed the rest of her herd and didn't say much of anything. Her parents passed away shortly after her 23rd name day and in her opinion it was a good thing to see them gone... two less cruel horses to deal with. She's contemplated multiple times becoming a loner, but every time she goes out into the woods alone, she comes back... though she sometimes decides to stay away from the herd for weeks at a time instead of only a few hours. Many horses tell her she's going to get herself killed because of it, but she doesn't listen.

Then the fires came and the words of the others almost came true... if it hadn't been for the fact that Asalah knew the forest and area well enough to escape the charred forest and rejoin her restless herd. They managed to survive... losing a few... and causing Asalah to stay with her herd instead of journeying outwards... but it is only a matter of time until she gets back to her old ways.

Now (Age 27)
Asalah's 27th name day has just passed and she doesn't know what to think of her herds plans on going towards the bachelors isle and asking to stay there. She is wary, and in a way wants to know more about the other horse herds... though she's more worried about what may happen when the exiled herd meets a herd that is made up of mostly male horses.

:new: After the ordeal between the Exile herd and the Bachelors, Asalah decided it would be better to leave her herd behind and seek help with the horses of old. Along the way she made friends with Leigh, Dandelion, Efflorescence, and a bachelor horse by the name of Raphael. Upon making it to the Olde's lands, the small herd split up, and instead of following the way they had originally planned to go, Asalah decided she was more comfortable going back home to the exile lands. She found that Dandelion was going the same way and traveled with him for some time... Until Asalah found out that they were following the Bachelor horse. Unfortunately, by the time she realized this, it was the same time that Raph did as well. They've been an unhappy family ever since...

Quirks

-- She tends to stamp the ground when she is annoyed or wants to get moving

-- Her mane is well taken care of if she can help it, but sometimes that isn't the case

-- When extremely interested in something, her entire body tends to perk up

-- She believes in the unicorns of old, but doesn't believe them to be gods

"I swear the horse only tolerates me because he somewhat feels protective of Dandelion... though, the only reason why I'm even following him around is to make sure he doesn't suddenly snap and kill the poor horse. I can't stand him and I'm pretty sure he can't stand me, so we at least agree that."

"She was the one to lead us to the olde herd and was the one that decided to return to the Exiles... out of our small group, I wonder how she's doing and worry about her the most... the exile herd is not a safe herd to be in right now... not in these dangerous times."

Roleplay Example

The lion was not surprised to hear of the decision Andromeda had made when it came to name the silver gladiator. Aglaia had risen to the occasion while she was gone, and although Brutus had known that at some point he was expected to be silver... he was completely fine in not being that choice. The tigress was much younger than he was... and more than likely going to survive longer than he or Andromeda would.

It was sad, ever since Soren had died, death had been a constant burden on the lion's shoulders. The calls died out, and in that time, the lion was able to see Andromeda move from Skycaller's Rock. It was strange of the white lion to see the snow leopardess coming from a place he associated with the fiery lynx he had become good friends with, but all the same, he had always known this day would come. Soren had always been a fighter, and with that kind of spirit, it had always been likely that he would die in the lines of battle over that of quietly in his nest... Though he knew how much it tore Andromeda apart.

He had always thought the two of them would eventually be together as a happy couple, Soren and Andromeda, especially with how Andromeda had been so close to the little cub Soren had brought home with him all those moons ago... back when the hunters hadn't nearly doubled in force... before Abiola had died. Brutus would never admit that he knew who's cubs they were; the markings around young Ryusei's eyes were too much like another snow leopard Brutus had known... Nedria.

It wasn't hard to guess, though Soren had eventually admitted it to Brutus... if his memory served correctly.

"Andromeda" His gruff voice called out as the other felines milled away. "I approve of your choice... not that it matters." It seemed strange talking to her as a friend when she was now his leader, but Brutus pushed that thought away. He had treated Soren as a friend, and she had been a friend when she had been only a silver... what had changed? Other than Soren's death... "Do you want some company... maybe to go out on a patrol of the territory?" If it had been any other time, he would have said stroll instead of patrol, but he doubted being lax at such a time as this would ease the snow leopardess any. Andromeda was too serious for that kind of matter... and a times, he himself was the same as well.

This was going to be a hard couple of months on the two of them. "If you don't want to, I understand, but I figured that you would need the company..." He glanced away for a moment before quietly adding: "We have both lost a great friend... maybe even something more... I figured you would want somebody to have a heart to heart with. As a friend, you know I'm here for you if you need it."

Hey! so I was thinking because she and Dande have spent so much recent time together Dandelion would have made them both friendship bracelets! In the starter pack we get a free bracelet, so I thought it might be cool C:
I totally understand if you wanna keep Asalah naked, but I was trying to flesh out what happened during their adventures, and this idea came to me.
