Of Life and Love

If I could explain every feeling I felt,

Every gathering under the sun.

The things that I say would make your heart melt,

And make me wish for a gun.



The time I have lived has shown me no calm;

No kindness of any like.

No kiss on the cheek or the touch of a palm,

Will stop this heart from taking a strike.



I have loved and lost and loved once more,

From here to home and back.

I’d take my heart from shore to shore,

To save it from every crack.



I ask for your heart at my darkest hour,

Wishing you hear my voice say;

“You no longer need to fear them and cower”

Because I'll be here to light the way.



The point of all this in one simple creed

Is to remind me of what I have control of,

not of what has control over me

Be it with or without love.



Love and life are of no kind wisdom,

They hold no guarantee.
